Can the vaccine give my child COVID?

Health care workers answer questions about the COVID-19 vaccines.

Rhea Boyd, MD explains that the COVID vaccines do not use a live virus and won’t give your child COVID.
There’s no way that any of the COVID vaccines can give your child COVID. The reason is because they are not live vaccines. COVID is not in the vaccine. The Pfizer vaccine only includes a tiny recipe to build just a tiny part of the COVID virus. And so, it’s important that parents know your kids will never get COVID from getting the vaccine. Neither will you.
