Do the COVID vaccines protect against illness?

Health care workers answer questions about the COVID-19 vaccines.

Noha Aboelata, MD explains how the COVID vaccines are keeping people from serious illness and death.

In terms of how effective it is, the most remarkable thing to me about the vaccines is how completely it seems to be preventing COVID-related death and very severe illness.

And this is really huge because this virus is so unpredictable in who it is going to really severely impact or who it’s going to kill. The fact that a vaccine could actually remove that potentiality is really huge.
