Do you need insurance to get a COVID vaccine?

Health care workers answer questions about the COVID-19 vaccines.

Hector Flores, MD explains that insurance is not required to get the COVID vaccine. It’s free to everyone.

You do not need insurance. The vaccine is for free because it’s federally subsidized, paid for completely by the federal government. In the questionnaire when people register, there’s a question asking if they have insurance or not, and it’s intended to be a yes or no question. What we’re trying to gather is data on how many people who are uninsured are actually able to benefit from the vaccination itself.
