The flu vaccine is very effective, but it’s generally never a 100 percent. Some years the flu vaccine doesn’t always match the strain that’s circulating.
I tell people you should get the flu vaccine even if it’s not 100 percent effective is because it still has some activity to protect you against the flu. And even if you get the flu, it’s likely that it will be a lot less severe if you get a flu shot.
