What about the timing of COVID vaccine and other child vaccines?

Pediatricians and other experts answer questions about the COVID-19 vaccines.

Pediatrician Rhea Boyd, MD, MPH explains that kids can get a COVID-19 vaccine at the same time as other routine vaccines – no need to space them out!

It’s safe to get the COVID vaccine at the same time that kids receive other regularly scheduled vaccines and the flu vaccine. If you choose to vaccinate your child for COVID along with other vaccines, parents should also know that they’re more likely to have those mild side effects. They’re more likely to get a little bit of fever, a little bit of aches and pains or chills as their immune system responds to all of the vaccines that they’ve received. But, for many parents, you’re very familiar with your child receiving multiple vaccines at a time and you know that it’s safe and it works really well for kids.
