Why do the COVID vaccines start at 6 months and older?

Infectious Disease Specialist and Epidemiologist, Céline Gounder, MD explains that pregnant people who get the COVID-19 vaccine pass antibodies to their babies who are protected up until 6 months of age.

There are many vaccines we actually don’t give until after the six months of age, which is because until six months of age newborns are protected by antibodies that are in their bloodstream from their mother. That their mother transferred to them through the placenta and also antibodies that they’re getting from their mothers through breast milk.
